It was yet another lovely sunny day and we went into Nice for our weekly kebab. There were police everywhere as there was a protest this afternoon and our usual park was closed. We went to La Reserve near the old port to enjoy the view.





I looked up La Reserve when we got home and found this..

  Day 2523 (Sunday) 5 th May 2024 This is Menton and this is the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. It was lovely and sunny this morning and we decided to park the scooter in Beaulieu and walk to Saint-Jean Cap-Ferrat. Town was absolutely packed so Huw went on the scooter alone to get through Rue du Poilu and I met him on the seafront. I got stuck behind a big group of American tourists and the guide was talking rubbish. There were a few people on the beach in Beaulieu and one of the private beaches is open already. We had a look at the menu in the Royal Riviera, which is a five-star hotel. The Cote de Beouf Heritage (steak) is 120€ and the most shocking item of all is a Croque-Monsieur Truffle at the outrageous price of 65€. Can you imagine if you didn’t know what a croque monsieur was and you ordered it, the shock of getting a ham and cheese sandwich with a few bits of truffle on it would be horrible.   Day 3068 (Saturday) 1 st November 2025 This is Eze Village and this is ‘the nine 30-metre high steel beams of  Neuf Lignes Obliques  that meet at the top are said to symbolise the nine valleys that converge on Nice. Nice artist Bernar Venet put it together and it was placed on the Prom in 2010 to commemorate the 150 th anniversary of Nice's attachment to France.’ It wasn’t very nice at all today but there is no rain on the forecast so the wedding should be ok but it’s such a shame it’s not sunny for the big day. There were six people swimming in the sea – they must be mad. The teenagers were decorating the village for tonight’s Halloween parade – it’s such a shame we’re going to miss it this year.   Day 2090 (Monday) 27 th February 2023. Today’s special photos This is Cascade (waterfall) de Gairaut – we’ve been there, it’s above Nice and this is Nice taken from the castle, above the cascade There was a cruise ship in the bay this morning – who on earth goes on a cruise in February? I walked to the station and it was bloody freezing – that is the coldest it’s been all winter. It was a bit warmer in Monaco but still cold. I spent a pleasant 90 minutes with Catherine in her flat and on the way home there was a young man playing the piano in Monaco station – he was very good.  When I got home I had a Skype lesson with Anastasia and we did some more spelling, she never ceases to amaze me.
