Day 3404 (Sunday) 4th October 2026
This is Rue Obscure in Villefranche-sur-Mer
and this is Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.
It was a beautiful sunny day and there was yet another cruise ship in the bay so the passengers had a lovely day to visit our little town,
I had some work to do today proofreading a dissertation about strokes victims, it’s incredibly boring but it’s all money. When I finished we walked into town to have some lunch. We called into Le Phare first and there were some people there so we had a drink with them before going down to the square to have a burger in Bobby’s.
There was quite a lot of noise this morning and we realised that it was les Mariniers en rose, which is a charity for breast cancer.

Breast Cancer : The 5th edition of "Les Marinières en Rose" in Villefranche - sur - Mer to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month ("Octobre Rose"), Les Marinières beach in Villefranche-sur-Mer will host the fifth edition of "Les Marinières en Rose" on October 3rd and 4th, a sports and charity event dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Princess Grace Hospital Centre (CHPG).
"A weekend to swim, walk, run... and support women." This sports and charity event fighting breast cancer returns to Villefranche-sur-Mer. The two-day programme includes an aquathlon, open-water swimming, a charity walk, and even a children's race.
26,000 euros raised since 2022.
Launched in 2022 in memory of Isabelle—a victim of breast cancer—the initiative has raised over 26,000 euros across four editions. "In 2025, the event brought together more than 500 participants and raised over 11,000 euros in donations," the organisers noted.
Following the 4th edition, the organisers presented a cheque for 11,000 to Benoîte Rousseau de Sevelinges, Director of the CHPG, in Villefranche-sur-Mer on October 24th, 2025 © CHPG
The funds were donated to the CHPG to help finance supportive care services for patients, such as sophrology, yoga, massages, music therapy, wigs, specialised undergarments, and more. These are treatments that are not reimbursed by insurance yet are essential to the patients' journey as they battle the disease.

Once again this year, 100% of the funds raised will be donated to the CHPG. "It was very important to me to support this type of care, because while treatments save lives, they also take a heavy physical and psychological toll. These support services provide vital help, enabling us to stay strong, preserve our dignity as women, and find the physical and mental strength to keep fighting. It is an event for everyone," says Patricia Plessis, founder of *Les Marinières en Rose*.
