Day 3320 (Saturday) 11th July 2026
This is the Japanese Garden in Monaco
and this is Villa Kerylos in Beaulieu.
It was pretty hot again but that gentle breeze is still blowing. We took the scooter into Nice to enjoy the Gay Pride Parade. In Villefranche the beach was packed and there were people swimming off the road.
We parked the scooter in the Old Port and took the usual photos of the pointus.
We walked to the other side of the port and settled down in a café to wait for the parade. There was a lot of loud music and lots of lovely gay people dancing in the street.
The atmosphere was wonderful and the parade soon started.
This man’s costume won the best outfit award of the day, he looked like something out of swan lake.
In Huw’s words it was a joyous occasion.
I thought it was a bit strange that there were more women than men in the parade. Some of the costumes were wonderful, others were questionable.
But all in all, it was a lovely day out.

About Nice Gay Pride (Pink Parade) 2026, written by Marc Dedonder
Nice hosts its Pink Parade on Saturday, July 11, 2026, along the Promenade des Anglais and through the city centre. Pride on the French Riviera has its own character - Mediterranean, elegant, with a mix of local residents and international visitors. The French Riviera's LGBTQ+ community has been a presence since the Belle Epoque, when the Cote d'Azur attracted artists, writers and aristocrats from across Europe. Nice's LGBTQ+ scene is concentrated in the Carre d'Or area west of the city centre and along the Promenade des Anglais. The French Riviera has been an LGBTQ+ destination since the 19th century, when artists, writers and aristocrats from across Europe used the coast as a refuge from more restrictive home environments. Nice hosts its Pink Parade on Saturday, July 11, 2026, along the Promenade des Anglais and through the city centre.

Gay nightlife in Nice around Nice Pride 2026
Nice's gay scene is concentrated in the old town (Vieux-Nice) and the area around Rue de la Prefecture. Le Blue Boy is the city's main gay venue; Klub (Rue Alphonse Karr) runs club nights. During Nice Pride (May) the parade runs along the Promenade des Anglais with the Mediterranean as backdrop - visually one of the most beautiful Pride marches in Europe. The Côte d'Azur attracts a wealthy international crowd for Pride, with many visitors combining Nice Pride with visits to Cannes and Monaco. The evening festival at the Esplanade de la Victoire has outdoor stages and the city's bars run until 3-4 am. Nice is significantly warmer and more outdoor-oriented than northern European Prides.
The Promenade and Vieux-Nice - Pride on the Cote d'Azur
Nice Pride takes place in July in the capital of the French Riviera. The parade along the Promenade des Anglais - the famous 7km seafront boulevard with the Mediterranean on one side - is one of Europe's most spectacular Pride parade settings. Vieux-Nice, the labyrinthine baroque old town, has gay-friendly bars and restaurants. Nice is easily accessible from Monaco (20 min), Cannes (40 min) and the Italian border (30 min).
The French Riviera has been an LGBTQ+ destination since the 1920s when Coco Chanel, the Duke of Windsor and a circle of artists and aristocrats made it fashionable. Nice itself attracts a broad international mix during summer. Pride in July coincides with peak Riviera season.
The history of Nice Gay Pride
Nice has held Pride events since the late 1990s. The event has grown alongside the Riviera's international profile.
Booking through misterb&b for Nice Pride means staying with someone who is part of the community - not just LGBTQ+ friendly in the abstract sense, but a local who chose to open their home specifically to travellers like you. That distinction matters during Pride weekend, when the best local knowledge - which parties are worth the queue, which streets to avoid on parade day, where to find breakfast at 3 am - comes from someone who has been coming to these events for years. misterb&b hosts in Nice are spread across the city's neighbourhoods, with the highest concentration near the city centre and the parade route. Unlike a hotel, a misterb&b stay puts you in a real apartment, with a real local connection, in a city at its most electric.
