Day 3307 (Sunday) 28th June 2026
This is Monaco
and this is Nice.
It was very hot again this morning but we decided to go out for lunch regardless. There was another cruise ship in the bay and town was full of tourists.
We went to Le Phare first and had a giggle with some of the locals and Seb told us that they were super busy on Friday night for the football, there were so many football fans there that nobody could walk past the bar. From there we walked down to the square to enjoy lunch in Bobby’s. The restaurant Cosmo has replaced some more furniture and it looks lovely but they really need to put umbrellas up
The bay was packed with private yachts and town was buzzing.

As France prepares for its second weekend of scorching temperatures, local authorities across the country are banning the sale of alcohol while festivals, events and sports fixtures have been cancelled.
Although temperatures are predicted to finally start to fall over the weekend, much of France will still be facing extremely high temperatures.
With hospitals and emergency services in many areas reaching breaking point after more than a week of extreme heat, local authorities have been given extra powers to ban the sale of alcohol and cancel events.
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez on Friday said that he "recommends" that local authorities follow the lead of the Paris police chief in banning the sale of alcohol.
In the capital the sale of alcohol in supermarkets, convenience stores and wine caves will be banned from 6pm on Friday until 7am on Saturday, and from 6pm Saturday to 7am Sunday.
The consumption of alcohol in public spaces such as parks, the river banks or on the street will be banned from 12noon on Friday until 7am on Saturday, and between 12noon Saturday and 7am Sunday.
This does not affect the sale of alcohol in bars, restaurants or cafés.
The country has also seen a swathe of cancellations of major events including sports fixtures, festivals and Pride events.
In Paris, the police chief requested that organisers cancel Saturday's Pride parade, which is usually attended by around 700,000 people. The event will instead be held in September. The Lyon Pride event has also been postponed until September.
Meanwhile the Solidays music festival, held at Longchamp, was also cancelled.
Numerous sports events have been cancelled including the Nice Ironman event and the We Run events in Paris.
France's rugby union has ordered that all amateur fixtures be cancelled over the weekend, although the final of the Top 14 - due to be played at Stade de France at 9pm on Saturday - and the AXA Elite 1 final, on Sunday at 6pm in Biarritz, remain scheduled at the time of writing. However, the sale of alcohol has been banned at Stade de France.
Although there are some cancellations, including on the Eurostar, most trains are scheduled to run as normal over the weekend. However SNCF is offering free cancellation or exchange of tickets for people who prefer to postpone their journey.
The heatwave is predicted to start to gradually recede over the weekend, with cooler temperatures moving in from the west and slowly moving east by Sunday or Monday.
Some areas will also see rain and thunder storms over the weekend, although it is not expected that the whole country will be back to seasonal norm temperatures until the start of next week.
If you have plans to attend an event over the weekend, double check with organisers or the local mairie that it has not been cancelled.
The electricity outages that have already affected tens of thousands of homes in Brittany, south-west France and the greater Paris region may continue over the weekend as soaring temperatures underground cause cables to fail.
