Day 3129 (Thursday) 1 st January 2026 This is the Prom in Nice and this is the library square head in Nice. This was lovely Villefranche this morning. It was another beautiful sunny day but the wind was really cold and we went up to the Belle Epoch for our New Year’s Day lunch. It hasn’t been called that for years but it will always be the Belle Epoch to me. This was our menu… Starters : Mushroom, gruyère and ham quiche Or Salmon gravlax, horseradish cream, beetroot Main courses : Roasted pork or chicken, yorkies, roasties, veggies, good gravy and crackling Or Filet of haddock, mash, veggies, dill cream Desserts : Apple tart, vanilla ice-cream, toffee sauce Or Chocolate cookie, ice-cream 1 bottle of wine for 3 included. The food was as good as always and the service was superb and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. We all met some new people which is always interesting especially in a small town like this.
