Huw went to Nice to do his French lesson and when he came home we went to Beaulieu and had sandwich at the very pretty look out point near the church. The flowers in Beaulieu are so much better than we have in Villefranche.

From here we went to the beach and soaked up the sunshine, it’s been the warmest day of the summer so far, I’m sure we’ll be complaining about the heat soon, well I won’t but Huw will.

A WORD FROM OUR CONCIERGE

A former fishing village, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is an ideally located seaside and winter resort, highly sought after for its tranquility. The Cap, in the far south, gave its name to the entire peninsula, which is home to the Villefranche harbour on one side and the Baie des Fourmis near Beaulieu on the other.

  Day 2523 (Sunday) 5 th May 2024 This is Menton and this is the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. It was lovely and sunny this morning and we decided to park the scooter in Beaulieu and walk to Saint-Jean Cap-Ferrat. Town was absolutely packed so Huw went on the scooter alone to get through Rue du Poilu and I met him on the seafront. I got stuck behind a big group of American tourists and the guide was talking rubbish. There were a few people on the beach in Beaulieu and one of the private beaches is open already. We had a look at the menu in the Royal Riviera, which is a five-star hotel. The Cote de Beouf Heritage (steak) is 120€ and the most shocking item of all is a Croque-Monsieur Truffle at the outrageous price of 65€. Can you imagine if you didn’t know what a croque monsieur was and you ordered it, the shock of getting a ham and cheese sandwich with a few bits of truffle on it would be horrible. Day 1131 ( Tues day) 14 th July 2020 Happy Fete Nationale or Bastille Day as we know it and I had the day off – no alarm this morning – hooray! We had a lovely lazy morning sunbathing and reading and in the afternoon we went for a walk down the beach and decided that we miss self-isolating – there were so many people there and they were from all over the place – Italians, Russians, British, Estonians, Germans etc. We saw that there are some new benches and they are red matching the red chairs dotted all around the town. There was no social distancing and we saw many people greeting each other with the la bise, it seems that people on holiday don’t realise that the virus is very much still here.
