Day 571 (Sunday)
Yet another gloriously sunny day – 22 degrees in the sun so we decided to go for a long walk along the beach so we caught a train to Golfe Juan, somewhere we haven’t been yet. At Villefranche station we were delighted to see so many people of the beach and some were even in the sea.
The sky was a truly amazing colour this morning…again
The little town (well, one road actually) of Golfe Juan was very pretty and the port was very impressive…
…but there were a number of really ugly boats.

At the end of the port we arrived at a beach, which was beautiful with golden sand, it looked like a summer’s day.

 

We saw this very Arabic looking house on the seafront

Along the beach between Golfe Juan and Juan Les Pins there are four jetty-type structures, I have no idea what they are for but the views from end are gorgeous.

The colour of the sea was quite simply wonderful
And there were a few people swimming



We had a sandwich on the seawall in Juan Les Pins and then had a lovely cold beer in a café near Antibes sitting in the winter sunshine.
I don’t know anything about this house; I just love the colours in the sunshine


Huw found a new square in Antibes that we have never been to and it was huge
We caught the train back to Villefranche and got off just in time to see this wonderful pink sky. I know it’s pollution from aeroplanes but it’s gorgeous.

Badger was very happy to see us and after an hour or so of utter madness she settled down as we watched Downton Abbey.

Day 1136 (Sun day) 19 th July 2020 It was seriously hot this morning – 44 degrees on our balcony and we had to prepare the big apartment because Freddy and Jamie left this morning and their friend Marvi is arriving tomorrow. Thankfully they had done most of the washing but it still took us three hours to get everything done but it’s good to earn beer money again! There are so many tourists in town and none of them are distancing and the beach was rammed. There are also a lot of private yachts in the bay and most of them will come ashore and there are now some disturbing reports in the news that our region now has the second highest infection rate in France, when for the whole confinement we got off lightly. This has to have something to do with the influx of tourists and we will see in the next few weeks what the authorities will do if the situation worsens.   As I’m sure you have realised I am a complete Francophile  but when it comes to food the French eat some weir

Day 584 (Saturday) 12th January 2019 I’m sure you’re sick of hearing this but it was gorgeous again this morning – 22 degrees in the sun. We thoroughly enjoyed a British sausage hot dog brunch in the sun and then got Kisbee ready and headed up to the mountains – today’s destination was Falicon, a hilltop town above Cimiez, where we went last week. It was quite a steep climb but Kisbee got us there no problem and the views were wonderful. The town was absolutely gorgeous and totally deserted, we were the only tourists there and there wasn’t a shop open.
