Day 450 (Friday)
We went to watch a tribute to David Bowie last night in the Citadel. The band weren’t the best but the atmosphere was electric – what a terrific location to pay tribute to this legend. Bowie kept his yacht in La Darse port in the 90s and I was very friendly with his crew who fed me on two Christmas days and I still have a dressing gown of his.

Huw went to Nice this morning to pick up the new shiny red scooter and it’s beautiful! This is our private parking space next to the flat.
And check out our fab number plate
Unfortunately, the salesman gave us the wrong helmet, he gave me a medium red one but I need a large so I can’t play with it until I get the right helmet but I did start trying to get the knack of getting it on and off the stand!

Here are some interesting facts about France
·      Half of ALL the roundabouts in the world are located in France
·      In 1911, the Mona Lisa was stolen from the Louvre museum. It was missing for two years!
·      In France, it's illegal to take a snail on a train unless it has its own ticket.
·      When Hitler visited the Eiffel Tower, staff cut the lift cables so that he'd have to walk if he wanted to reach the top
·      The French football team's first ever match was against Belgium, in 1904. They drew 3-3.
·      In Paris, there are more dogs than children.

We walked down to town for sundowners – out two nights running – what a pair of dirty stop-outs! We called in to see Beth for her ‘happier hour”, named because she says the bar is always ‘happy’ and it’s just ‘happier’ when it’s cheaper. She a new barman who is a ‘mixologist’ and he gave us a free sample of a rum, banana and coconut cocktail which was delicious. We had a few in Le Phare with the usual suspects and thoroughly enjoyed an ice cream on the way home, banana for me and a rum and raisin for Huw.
