Day 1818 (Tuesday) 31 st May 2022 Huw was tired today after doing four hours of physical work yesterday and a not very good night’s sleep. He has a same day check-out, check-in tomorrow so we decided to have a lovely lazy day sunbathing and pottering around the flat. I’ve only got a Zoom lesson at 5.15 – 6.45 with the genius in Toulouse. We both did our Duolingo and I’ve dropped to 6 th place in my league and Huw was at the top of his league, which made him very happy. I haven’t written about the French language for a while so here goes. I found these articles on Quora Digest all about genders in French Hillary Sibille – teacher of French, Spanish and English as a second language since 1979 How do French people know the masculinity or femininity of an object? I think you’re asking how the French have word gender (we don’t say “masculinity” or “femininity”) memorised. It seems effortless, doesn’t it? First of all, the French don’t see an object as masculine or male or feminine or fe

Day 1817 (Monday) 30 th May 2022 I had the day off because Eduard and Olga only came back from Israel yesterday. Huw had to work on the villa for four hours today doing the indoors and the garden. It was a bit overcast today, typical on my day off so I did some household chores and quite a lot of Duolingo practise. For the first time in ages I was at the top of the leader board again…   …  this didn’t last very long as about ten minutes later I fell down to second place, ah well it was nice while it lasted. Last night Badger turned into a different cat and sat on both our laps for most of the evening, sometimes licking, sometimes biting. This article was published in The Local France in 2021 Six reasons why France is so popular with tourists As tourism around the world tentatively restarts, we look at why France has repeatedly taken the title of the world's most-visited tourist destination. For obvious reasons, tourism has been at a very low ebb for the past 18 months, but as ho

Day 1816 (Sunday) 29 th May 2022 It was a lovely day again and while Huw went for a walk I had a lovely lie in with Badger. There were two cruise ships in the bay so there plenty of tourists in town  The one closest to town is called MS Bolette and it isn’t as ugly as the usual cruise ships thinking it was old and therefore slightly more elegant so I was surprised to learn that it was built in 2000. Proudly bearing the name of Fred Olsen Jnr's great-great-grandmother,  Bolette  harbours an historic connection to the Olsen family. Exuding classic, elegant style in her exterior and interior design, and featuring spacious and comfortable public areas, as well as just 690 cabins, our flagship leads our fleet of smaller ships by example.   She can travel at high speeds, enabling us to reach destinations quicker, meaning our journey planners can craft itineraries that include more visits to ports and places on even our shorter cruises, and more time sailing the most scenic routes.  Bole
